In searching for historical materials for this website, it was found that much of it exists at the Stephenson Archives of the Old Saybrook Historical Society. What wasn't available at the Archives was found through the Connecticut State Library and at the Acton Library in Old Saybrook. Until now, what was also missing is a published account connecting the Saybrook colony to those buried at Cypress Cemetery - the ancient burial ground laid out by Lion Gardiner shortly after settlement in 1635. In addition, the numerous photos in those books dating back to the beginning of the 20th century have not been available in a context such as that presented in this website. The following is a list of the books and publications that were used:
- Chesebourgh, H. C., 1984, Glimpses of Saybrook in Colonial Days.
Celebration 3 1/2 to Commemorate the 350th Anniversary of the Saybrook Colony in 1985, 101pp.
